HOME MISSION COUNSELING COURSE

Family is the communion of individuals related to each other by blood, or adoption. The members of a family do share a common past history, a present reality, and a plan for each other. In the process of development cultural and ethnic ties of family could deteriorate and the mutual ties of relationship could fall apart. Church is communion of families.

Thus the Diocese of Irinjalakuda offers a healing hand at the privacy of their home and confidentiality to its utmost level. One of the ministries of Family Apostolate is Home Mission Counseling. A team of professionally trained nuns (counselors) resides in one of the homes in the parish and visits the pre informed houses and spends less than two hours there.

The counselors do have individual sessions with family members and group sessions together. The following day the families would come for the morning mass in the parish church and the head of the family would light the "Nilavilakku" during the liturgy and the reset the relationship within themselves and to the fellow people as required.
